Actually this is cool and now I’m gonna do some research. I like cats too, looking at specializing in them and doing holistic, nutrition, behavior. I think there’s a huge disconnect between people and understanding of cats, which Jackson shows regularly!

That lady was weird. She was a great example of not following instructions. Nobody beats liking bad behavior like the jerk last week who was proud of his “macho” cat terrorizing the gf’s cat into psychosomatic vomiting.

My family does not support my being in the LGBTQIA community. They actually are opposed to it. They tell me every day that its disgusting and that it’s sinful and I’ll go to hell for liking women.
I moved out when I was seventeen, and in January I moved back in with them because I couldn’t handle everything that was going on. Every day one of my five siblings tells me to go back to Minnesota. My little brother Charlie (the black baby in the picture) is now 8 and he constantly physically attacks me and tells me that I’m not his sister and to leave. My other siblings make it very obvious and clear that they don’t want me here and my parents tell me constantly that they’re gonna kick me out soon.
I’ve been saving every penny for a bus ticket to Oregon to stay with my best friend and today I found this picture in my sisters’ room ON DISPLAY. Not hidden. On display. They cut my face out of the picture.

And that… That was just the last straw.
I don’t care if anyone reblogs this or whatever, I don’t wanna get popular, I just want people to know that this is not what a family looks like. This is not something people should have to go through.

This is wrong. I’m going to assume, because I typically see hatred on this level with this association, that this family is very conservative Christian. I just want to say that I am Christian, my family is Christian. We have always been willing to discuss and think about things with one another. I am very blessed having grown up this way, and because of our willingness to discuss these things like mature adults, I have also seen all of our opinions morph over the years (no, we don’t always agree, that’s ok).

But here’s the thing. All the Bible verse slinging that is so ridiculous…it’s always Old Testament nonsense being thrown around. Not only would it never do anything to convince someone you’re ‘right’ or convert anyone, but it doesn’t really support Christianity. The point of the New Testament is that all those crazy laws in the Old Testament are made null and void by the new covenant in Christ. And all He really emphasizes, over and over, is faith and love.

So just stop. It’s not up to you. Just take care of each other. There’s a reason hatred is so exhausting.

A licensed rehabber brought this raccoon in to the WCV. it was obviously very ill, and showed some symptoms of rabies (circling and head-pressing), so it was humanely euthanized. Because the WCV is a teaching hospital, the vet tech extern used the cadaver to practice doing skin scrapes (it was positive for sarcoptic mange, a zoonotic disease caused by the sarcoptes mite) and a basic exam: it’s mucous membranes were white, it had almost no teeth, was severely dehydrated, and had a bcs of 1/10. Poor thing. It was tested for rabies later, but i haven’t been back yet so i don’t know the results.

In addition to sarcoptic mange and possibly rabies, the raccoon was also probably carrying baylisascaris, a zoonotic roundworm that causes severe neurological symptoms and even death in humans and other mammals. It’s also notoriously difficult to remove from the environment, so rather than risk contaminating the entire clinic, raccoons are only worked on in a special designated outside area.

Just another reminder that if you see a sick or injured wild animal, don’t take it upon yourself to care for it — contact the professionals, for your own health and safety as well as the animal’s.
